What are same-day dental crowns?
The digital dentistry system uses advanced, computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology to craft personalized dental crowns quickly.
This means that instead of using traditional methods (such as taking a physical impression and sending it to a dental laboratory), Dr. Jopling can design and fabricate same-day dental crowns in our very own Powdersville dental office while you wait!
How are same-day crowns made?
First, we take a digital impression of your tooth using a special camera. Dr. Jopling can use this digital impression to create a 3D model of your tooth on a computer. Using this model, we design your new dental crown using special software that allows us to create a customized fit, shape, and color for your new prosthetic.
Once the design is complete, the information is sent to our milling machine, which creates your new dental crown out of a block of dental ceramic. The milling process can take as little as 20 minutes, so you won’t have to wait long to receive your new, permanent crown!
Why are same-day digital dentistry crowns better than other dental crowns?
Same-day crowns offer many distinct advantages over traditional dental crowns. One of the biggest benefits is that we can create them in a single visit, which means that you won’t need to come back for a second appointment. This can be a significant time saver for busy individuals!
Additionally, digital dentistry dental crowns are made using high-quality dental ceramic that is designed to look and feel like your natural teeth. This means that your new crown will blend seamlessly with your existing teeth, creating a beautiful, natural-looking smile.
What should patients expect?
When you come in for your dental crown appointment, we first examine your tooth to determine if a crown is necessary. If a crown is needed, we begin the process of taking a digital impression and designing your new crown.
Once the design is complete, we prepare your tooth for the crown by removing any damaged or decayed tissue. Then, we place the new crown on your tooth and check the fit and color to ensure that it matches your existing teeth.
After any necessary adjustments have been made, we cement the crown in place and check your bite to make sure everything feels comfortable. Once the procedure is complete, you can go back to your normal activities right away, without any restrictions!
